James M. Thresher/The Washington Post
There were a couple stories worth reading over the weekend, all found in – gasp! – mainstream newspapers like The Washington Post and The New York Times.
The first is this story by the Post on popping the question – the prom question. I liked it because this kid sacraficed some Dacron for a date. It was not his Dacron, of course, but still pretty clever.
Then there was the story on the $4 bilion National Harbor development right outside Washington DC. I've been curious about this one, because I sail by it all the time on the Potomac. According to the Post, the first guests to stay there were welcomed by a virus and some rats in their rooms. Yeah, welcome to Washington.

This one ran a while back, but I read it just recently, when a colleague turned me onto it. It is a very New York Times take on the sailing vocabulary (perhaps chardonay and writing do not mix). Only read this if you plan to make fun of the author.
