Eastern Boats Inc. makes downeastern style vessels in 18 to 35 feet, including the Eastern 248 Explorer.

We haven't tested it, but the Eastern 248 seems to have all kinds of potential as a family boat, with a single engine — 115 to 150 horsepower — a cuddy cabin and plenty of deck space in a trailerable package.

The Eastern 24 is a true 24 feet in LOA, has a beam of 8 feet, 6 inches and draws 15 inches. It weighs 3,500 pounds, including the engine.
