Mad Mariner launched its annual Boaters Gift Guide this week, a listing of products and deals – even a few steals – that will make holiday shopping easier.

All of the products listed in the guide can be purchased online, and in many cases they represent the lowest prices available. One example is West Marine's Raiatea Binoculars (you know, the blue ones), which usually cost $169.99 but can be purchased in the guide for $89.99. Another is the SPOT Satellite Messenger, which usually costs $149 for the unit and another $99 for a year of monitoring. We found a package for $149 that includes monitoring -- and there's an additional $50 rebate from the manufacturer.

The guide includes products from well-known companies like Garmin and Raymarine, as well as a few surprises. For example, the BridgeNorth Bailer – a combination boat hook and water pump – is something we couldn't resist. We felt similarly about the G'zOne Boulder waterproof mobile phone and the custom gear offered by Zazzle.com. There's even a home-grown entry included. Get Onboard With E-Charting, the definitive book on electronic charts and computer-based navigation, began right here as a Mad Mariner series.

Perhaps best of all, the gift guide is a work in progress. We will continue to update it with new offerings as we find them throughout the season. As always, we hope it helps.
