MEGAYACHT NEWS BLOG ON MAD MARINER

Megayacht News, the only professionally-written blog exclusively covering the world of megayachts, is now running regularly on Mad Mariner.

Megayachts make for some great theater. For example, the Maltese Falcon, at 289 feet, is a three-masted square rig with almost 26,000 square feet of sail -- all of it push-button operated. As if that weren't enough, the vessel is currently being fitted with an accessory submarine.

While megayacht owners may live in a rarified world, the vessels themselves are no longer rare. There are an estimated 7,000 megayachts traveling the world's oceans. Russian oil billionaire Roman Abramovich, at 40 years old, owns no fewer than four. Moreover, while sales of production boats are slowing, all indications show that megayachts – those 80 feet and larger – continue to roll out of the yards.

The editors at Mad Mariner decided this segment of the market was too interesting to pass on – and we knew who to call. Diane M. Byrne is the megayacht editor at Power & Motoryacht, compiler of the magazine's famous "100 largest" lists, and the author of Megayacht News. She has been reporting on some of the world's largest private vessels for more than a decade, and has been cited in publications like Fortune and Forbes. Her coverage is definitive.

We have long enjoyed reading Diane's work, and we hope you do too.
