Mad Mariner welcomes Capt. Art Pine, a veteran journalist and longtime sailor, as the newest member of its Advisory Committee, a group of professionals in the marine, journalism and technology fields who advise the company on a volunteer basis.

Pine is a veteran journalist who has spent 40 years in Washington, working for newspapers such as the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times and the Baltimore Sun. He is also Coast Guard-licensed captain, a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and a contributing editor at U.S. Naval Institute's Proceedings, a policy journal for the sea services.

Pine has been writing for Mad Mariner since last year, covering a broad portfolio of topics with distinction. Editors here will seek his advice on matters involving the Coast Guard, homeland security and any issue in which politics and the marine industry intersect. He is also a valued expert in boating generally and sailing in particular.
