Got a Budding Sunken Treasure Hunter at Home?

Gail Gibbons' Sunken Treasure: FOLLET BOOKSFOLLET BOOKSGail Gibbons' Sunken TreasureA recent story of mine on Mad Mariner was about Mel Fisher's treasure hunts in the Caribbean for the galleons of the Spanish Main. These are always great stores, probably because we all harbor dreams of finding treasure, of one kind or another.

I just came across a great children's book, written by Gail Gibbons, that is also about Mel Fisher's hunt for the Nuestra Senora de Stocha, one of the treasure-laden ships wrecked by a hurricane in 1622. Published in 1988, Ms. Gibbons' book, Sunken Treasure, is a great read for an elementary-school student, and faithfully tells the story, with great illustrations.

If you have an elementary school child at home, you might suggest they ask their school librarian to help them find this book on their next library visit. Here are the details.
