Anybody know what type boat the Beluga (home page photo on the Boat Name article today) is? Nice looking little boat!

I wish I did.

It was a funky boat - a Yawl with a pilothouse and a canoe stern. Go figure.

We shot that photo outside Mears Marina, in Back Creek near Annapolis. She was just anchored in the channel. I was waiting for an opportunity to use the image, and the name was good enough for me.

The boat names I like the best are the ones that sound nautical and often contain two or three hidden connotations. Example: Sailboat owned by a local jurist:

                                  JUDGE KNOT
