What multifunction system do you have and how do you like it?

Over the last few years we have seen systems from Raymarine, Furuno, Garmin, Lowrance and others hit the market. I would like to start a discussion that gives the fans of these systems a chance to share just what they like and don't lke about the system they have used.

I have only used Garmin systems on my boats.  I found the controls very intuitive and learning curve very low.  Presently I use a 182C for my first mate's position and a 4212 for the helm.  I have a 24" radar from Garmin and 2 fuel flow controls hooked to the 4212 multifunction display as well.  Also have an Azimuth 1000 electronic compass to keep the chartplotter pointing the right direction when not under way.  I really like the radar overlay feature the best because it saves your precious helm real estate for other stuff plus saves having to look at 2 different displays while underway at 20 knots.  That's important for a "go-fast boat".

I have a 2001 - 58 foot bluewater that I purchased last year and it was all equiped with Raymarine 2001 equipment.  I found it unreliable and very outdated as to what was available on the market.

I replaced it all with Garmin,  4412 and 5012 multifunctions unites that report, chart, depth, speed, autopilot data, heading, echo pilot forward looking sonar, back up camera as well as cabin camera, radar and satelite weather. All tied into a garmin network including a 480 smaller multifunction at the lower helm.

The learning curve for Garmin was a very short couple of hours, by comparison I spent several times more hours learning the Echo pilot forward looking sonar.

I am very satisfied with garmin quality and the ease of use of their products.
