I would be thrilled to see this nation rebuild New Orleans for historical reasons, for cultural reasons, but especially--- to regain our "can-do" spirit. Also, other cities will eventually become submerged as the polar caps melt. I heard the Chief of Homeland Security saying in effect that we can't do anything for people who live below sea level. That made me sick to my stomach. The Japanese have built airports in the sea of Japan, The Mare Island Naval Base, S F. was build on a filled piece of land, and Holland has been coping with high water for centuries. It would give my pride a huge kick if we faced head-on this problem of living with a rising water level and proved that we could do it. I know I've over simplified the problem--but wouldn't it make you proud of your country if the Missississi Delta became a beautiful port city and a Showcase for our tecknological genius? -Neptune
