M2 MotoryachtsRendering of the new M2 57' Sportfishing CatamaranM2 Motoryachts, the Bristol, R.I.-based power catamaran builder, said yesterday it will build a new 57-foot sportfishing cat, built for extremely high speeds and offshore stability.
M2 said the boat will be equipped with MAN R800 diesels, capable of producing a top speed of 58 knots, with a cruising speed of 45 knots. The base price of approximately $3.4 million includes your choice of either surface-piercing, IPS or straight drives -- presumably it's the surface-piercing drives that produce those top speeds.
According to M2 CEO Paul Mihailides, "In offshore fishing, speed and stability are two keys to a successful boat and tournament campaign. Our new 57 will give the team that wants to win the best opportunity they have ever had." The company says first delivery will follow first order by about nine months.
The M257 will feature an LOA of 57 feet, 10 inches; a beam of 16 feet, 11 inches, and a draft of 3 feet, 6 inches. Dry weight will be 38,000 pounds. The company says that the cockpit layout, interior, finish and primary fishing gear will be customized to the owner's specifications. You can see a couple more renderings of the M257 at the company's website.
