Self-Activating Extinguisher Has Attached Tubing For Reaching Tight Spots

Fire extinguishers onboard are an absolute necessity, but with even a cursory look at your boat's layout, it's clear that some areas are more accessible than others. What if a fire breaks out in one of the more constricted, hard-to-reach areas – a remote area in the engine compartment, for instance, or maybe in the wire harnesses or the bow thruster compartments?

Sea-Fire Marine's Stinger Series with its patented Firetrace tubing provides some much-needed extinguishing power for just these situations. The U.S. Coast Guard-approved Stinger units come in six model sizes to protect compartments from 25 to 175 cubic feet in volume.

Here's how it works. Firetrace tubing is connected to a pressurized extinguisher. When temperatures hit 175 degrees or more, the fire suppression system is automatically activated, rupturing the tubing, which has been pre-positioned and secured near a potential fire hazard. At this point, the ruptured tubing forms a small nozzle that releases FM-200 fire suppressant directly at the fire.

The easy-to-install system requires no external power. Mounting brackets for cylinders and tubing are included, as are two bulkhead adapters and installation instructions.
