A fund established by the Coast Guard Auxiliary in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina is now trying to help the victims of Ike.
Operation Life Ring provides disaster relief funds to Coast Guard families after catastrophic events such as storms, fires and floods. It was initially established in 2005 after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The families of Coast Guard members worked to save lives and property, even as they lost their own homes and loved ones.
With this year's hurricane season bringing powerful storms like Hurricane Ike, the auxiliary is looking for donations once again.
