While fishing and hunting in southern Louisiana, we often deal with submerged debris such as cypress stumps, trees, creosote planks and poles. Carrying an extra prop, nut, washer and cotter pin is a necessity, but they're useless if we're unable to spin or remove the damaged prop. That's why you should seasonally remove the prop and apply an anti-corrosion grease to the shaft; this will prevent the prop from sticking or freezing. When doing thi,s also check your onboard toolbox, making sure that you have channel locks and needle nose pliers to aid in removing/replacing the damaged prop. Also, a pair of wire cutter to remove crab traps and other debris would not be a bad idea.
